OnePetro Database Guide: Access & Register

This guides shows you how to access and use OnePetro, the definitive resource on upstream oil and gas.

Important Usage Note

The Login options on the right side of the OnePetro homepag is necessary to be able to access the full text for papers & rate them, save searches, bookmark content of interest, and view purchased download history.

Following the steps described below should log you in and ensure you are ready to start searching & downloading your papers.

Login to OnePetro

  • SPE Members:

If you are a SPE member, you can login using your SPE.org credentials. If you have forgotten your password, please visit the SPE website to reset it.

  • Non SPE Members: 

All others should register with their BUE mails prior to logging in for the first time.

Registered Users

  • To access OnePetro directly, click on the link below
  • To access OnePetro from the Library website, follow the steps below:
  1. Enter the Library website through the following link http://lib.bue.edu.eg  
  2. Click on Menu located above left, then click on E-Resources and Select Online Databases.
  3. The list is ordered alphabetically, select the letter O to find OnePetro.
  4. According to your location, Click on OnePetro link to access On campus or Off Campus icon Off Campus (login required when choosing Off Campus by your BUE mail user name (without @bue.edu.eg) & password).
  5. If you have already registered to OnePetro, click on Sign In located on the right side to login directly using your SPE credentials or your BUE mail.

Non- Registered Users

If you are a new user to OnePetro & non SPE member, then follow the steps below:

  1. Follow the steps mentioned on how to access OnePetro in the previous box (1-4).
  2. Click on the Register

  3. Fill in your personal information, enter your first and last name, BUE email address and a password.

  7. You will receive an email from OnePetro with a link that need to be clicked on to finish the process of registration.
