Instructors have the option of allowing students to view the Originality Report. If your instructor has enabled this option, then the Originality Report for your 1st attempt to submission is usually created within 5 to 10 minutes of submission. Longer papers will take a little more time. If the Originality Report is Not Available, then you should contact your instructor regarding this matter. |
Click on the related class name then find the assignment you submitted to and click Open button to view the assignment dashboard.

Access your assignment dashboard and under the Similarity column, you'll find your similarity score. This is a numerical and indicator of the amount of similarity found in your work. Click on that score to Open your enhanced similarity report.

It is a new version of Turnitin similarity report with updated workflows that includes a new categorization of match types, new source cards present full information about the highlighted match and a new tab navigation allows users to easily access different report functionality, such as the flags panel and integrated AI writing report

The overall similarity is the percentage of a submission's text that matched to sources from Turnitin selected databases. Each match is highlighted and detailed in the similarity report.

The new Match Groups tab categorizes the overall similarity into four groups based on the usage of in-text citations and quotation marks. Each match is color- coded to find what areas in that submission need your attention.
The color and criteria for each match group are:
Instructors should review to see if further action is required.
Instructors should review if quotation marks or paraphrasing is required.
Instructors should review to see if citation is required
Instructors should review to see if the correct referencing style has been applied
To display definitions in the side panel, select "Show Help" in the blue bar displaying the match total:

To hide the definitions, select "Hide Help":


Click on a match to view details in the source card. Information includes:
1. Matching source ranking number: each highlight in the document has a source number associated with which is indicated in the top left of its corresponding source card.
2. Source type: according to Turnitin search databases (Internet, scholarly articles, and students papers).
3. The name of the matching source and the percentage matched with the document.
4. The number of matching text blocks to that source as well as a total word count for all matches with the same criteria.
5. You can view the full source text in the same panel or click on the its direct URL.
6. You can exclude the match into the Exclusions list either directly from the source card or from its corresponding text on the document.
Provides a list of sources organized in descending order by highest total similarity percentage. (These sources are the same as those detailed in source cards in the Match Groups tab.)

The overlapping sources list will display all matched sources to the same text that will be prioritized in this order:

Select the “show all overlapping sources” option to display individual source cards for all matches.
Document Details are now found within Submission Details in the new Similarity Report view.
1. To open Submission Details, select the “i” icon in the top right-hand corner of the report.

2. Details include the class, assignment, student, and file information.

When a matched source is a student paper either submitted to your institution or another, and you have permission to view it, selecting the icon under the source name will display available details about that source.

The Similarity Report can be downloaded as a PDF file. Select the download icon at the top of the report and then select Similarity Report to download the PDF.
